The Vessel Project

Vessel is defined as a functional ware to carry or transmit something. The vessel project is inspired by the abandoned bottle kilns around Stoke on Trent and the history of the pottery industry in Stoke.
The brick form was chosen to represent the repetition of the widely used mold making & slip method in the mass production in pottery factories. Different percentages of glaze chemicals were added into each slip- casting casted hollow brick. By adding chemicals into clay bodies, the brick form altered.
