Trees in the Garden of Eden
Date
2021
Medium
wood ash, stoneware, cement, light projection
“Ashes are like traces and memories left by life. They carry my past and make me who I am today. Both ashes and clay are derived from earth. Mix them together, as if they're nutrients for the growth of life. Therefore, I plant my souls in them with good care, embrace them, and wait for them to grow into a better me.”
Trees in the Garden on Eden is a conclusion of my thoughts and feelings about life & death, after suffering from a serious illness which I spent more than a year to recover from. Wood ash was mixed into clay in different proportions to create transformations, symbolizing the growth of inner self in both physical and spiritual aspects.
